Ole Glory Days

This week has been our town's Ole Glory Days. It just amazes me how much our little town does for the Independence day holiday and how many people turn out for the events. We have a carnival and many vendor booths, plus many free events going on in the downtown square. We attended the art show, the office Olympics, the motor cross trick show (where the motorbikes did flips and many other scary stunts), and Jesse competed in a Wii bowling tournament. Today, we went to the Grand parade and Wyatt finally figured out how to yell, "Candy" to the cars and parade walkers to get his fair share. Tomorrow is the morning community service followed by free biscuits and gravy (Jamie's really excited about this). Then we will be hosting a southern gospel group at our church. During the evening, there is a free ice cream social (I'm excited about this) and the gospel fest. We will end the evening and the weekend by watching the big firework show from our back yard. I love the Ole Glory days. It really brings our town together and gives us a chance to get out and enjoy many events, all for free!

The City Wide Garage Sale

Today was Clinton's city wide garage sale. I geared up for the big event by looking through our local newspaper and highlighting all of the sales I wanted to go to out of the several that were advertised. Mom and I headed out (with Wyatt taking a nap back at Poppy's) and low and behold it started raining!! It rained the whole time we were out, but I will tell you, this is one tough town of garage sale maniacs! People huddled in their garages still trying to make a few cents and many many cars were driving slowly by the sale site to see if it was worth the chance of getting soaked. Mom and I got out at several sites and I got a few deals (some clothes for me and a booster seat for Wyatt for 50cents-Thanks to Mom's great negotiating!). I finally got tired of trudging around in the puddles and ended our adventure all too prematurely for Mom. But there'll be more sales. Hopefully it won't be raining next time!!

Exercise

Why all of a sudden do I loathe exercise. I did so great last summer/fall going out 5-6 days a week walking around our neighborhood and loved every minute of it (plus loved the way I felt, too!). But I just can't make myself do it. I do it maybe once and then don't for a long time afterward. Ugh. Part of the reason is that Wyatt now hates to be in his stroller and so screams when I try to put him in. I just need to strap him in anyway and do it! JUST DO IT!! I don't want to feel this horrible the whole pregnancy!!

Dandelions

I have always loved dandelions! I think it's the vibrant yellow color that polka-dots through the grass that just makes me smile. Once, when I was about 4 or 5 years old, my Sunday school teacher asked us to name some flowers that God had made. After many of the other children called out roses, daises, tulips...etc. I raised my hand and smiling really big, stated, "Dandelions". I can remember the teachers face so well as she twisted it up in a confused stated and I remember feeling embarrassed at my answer. But, even amidst every ones desire to rid their lawns of the "horrid weed", I still love looking at them and especially enjoy it when Wyatt picks them and brings me the pretty little yellow flower! Today, Wyatt and I even planted some in a flower box so that I can have some on my porch:).
